Herein we demonstrate simply that the addition of Pd(OAc)2 as a promotor switches the reactivity of a commonly used base NaH to a nucleophilic reductant. The reactivity is engineered into a palladium-catalyzed reductive debenzylation and deallylation of aryl ethers and esters. This operationally simple, mild protocol displays a broad substrate scope and a broad spectrum of functional group tolerance (>50 examples) and high chemoselectivity toward aryl ethers over aliphatic structures. Moreover, the dual reactivity of NaH as a base and a reductant is demonstrated in efficient synthetic elaboration.

The present invention provides a method for synthetizing a 2-fluoro phenol compound shown in a formula IV. The phenol compound shown in the formula I is prepared into a 2-pyridine oxygroup arene compound shown in a formula II through an Ullmann reaction, the 2-pyridine oxygroup arene compound shown in the formula II is mixed with a palladium catalyst, a fluorinating reagent, an additive and an organic solvent, the mixture is stirred under the temperature of 30-160 DEG C to perform a fluorination reaction to obtain an ortho-position fluoridated 2-pyridine oxygroup arene compound shown in a formula III, and the ortho-position fluoridated 2-pyridine oxygroup arene compound shown in the formula III is prepared into the 2-fluoro phenol compound shown in the formula IV through the action of alkali. The method provided by the present invention has the advantages of mild reaction conditions, simplicity in operations, good substrate adaptability, high fluorination selectivity and the like. The 2-fluoro phenol compound is shown in the figure below.

An agricultural or horticultural fungicide containing 6-(unsubstituted or substituted) phenoxy picolinic acid represented by the general formula (I), as an effective ingredient. wherein R is a halogen atom, a C1to C4alkyl group, a C1to C4haloalkyl group, a C1to C4alkoxy group, a C1to C4haloalkoxy group, a C1to C4alkylthio group, a C1to C4alkylamino group, a di(C1to C4alkyl)amino group or a C7to C8aralkyl(C1to C4alkyl)amino group; n2is an integer of 0 to 3; Y is a C1to C4alkyl group, a C1to C4haloalkyl group, a C1to C4alkoxy group, a C1to C4haloalkoxy group, a C1to C4alkylthio group, a C1to C4haloalkylthio group or a halogen atom; and m is an integer of 0 to 5, and when m and n2are not less than 2, Rs and Ys may be the same or different, respectively. The compound is useful as an effective ingredient of agricultural or horticultural fungicides.
